World War 2 - Audley Combatants with forenames A to C

This page contains a list those members with the Audley surname that fought in WW2.  Unfortunately WW2 service records and medal records are currently not in the public domain. This list has been created:

    • from those records that are in the public domain.
    • from a list from the ' Ministry of Defence' (October 2021) which gave brief details of those people with the Audley surname and born prior to 1922 whose service records was in the Ministry of Defence.

It should be noted that as of October 2021 that the 'MOD' have recently commences transferring the Service Records, of those Service Personnel who were discharged from the forces from 1921 to 1971, to 'The National Archives'. This project is anticipated to be completed in 2027.

As a result of the above the list below will include people who served in the forces and were discharged between 1921 and 1939 and who were not combatants in WW2

He served in WW1 with the 4th (Royal Irish) Dragoon Guards 
He  served from 1919 to 1934 in the Royal Tank Corps

This persons service record has been transferred from the MOD to 'The National Archives as of October 2021. This person was discharged from the forces between 1921 and 1939 and therefore probably did not serve in WW2.

He was awarded the 'Territorial Efficiency Medal' in 1945/46 for 12 years efficient service (ref WO 102/36} A family member possesses his Territorial Efficiency Medal with the above Service Number

Royal Armoured Corps Service from 12/12/1940 to 26/5/1946 in the Mediterranean

Mentioned in despatches published in the London Gazette 23/05/1946 page 2444.

Awarded the following medals: WWII War Star,  The Africa Star Medal worn with 8th Army Clasp, and 'Oak Leaves', WWII Italy Star, WWII Defence Medal, WWII War Medal.

It would appear that he served in the forces twice The first time with Service number 5493857 and was discharged in the period 1921 to 1939

He then appears to have re-enlisted for WW2 with service number 7521108

Service Number 7521108 Private; Royal Army Medical Corps.

Captured by the Japanese 15/02/1942 Liberated 02/09/1945
