Audley Links

Audley family records at  the University of Liverpool Sydney Jones Library. When A. L. Reade died in 1950 all his research records into  the Audley Family were deposited in  the 'Special Collection and Archives' section of  the University of Liverpool Sydney Jones Library. This link will take you to the relevant section of the library catalogue that relates to Audley Family History.

Genuki UK and Ireland Genealogy A very useful web site that has lots of useful information about places. It is very good for finding out about the locality in which one is searching.

Historical Directories A web site that contains a wide range of street directories from various parts of the country.

Liverpool and Merseyside Graveyards.  A Mass of information and social history about graveyards including some ghoulish information

Workhouse Website A very interesting social history site

 

Birth, Marriage and Death Indexes post 1837

FreeBMD A great website with a very comprehensive coverage of the Birth Marriages and Death indexes in the period 1837 to 1900. It is being expanded all the time.

UKBMD This website is an index to many other websites both free to use, subscription, and pay to view. Once on the home page select the 'LOCALBMD' option on the left hand side. These local BMD sites are a complimentary to the above link.

 

Parish Register Records

Family Search. This well known website including the IGI index is comprehensive.  We aware the database does contain transcription errors

IGI Batch Numbers - British Isles and North America A very useful tool for the IGI where one is looking at a specific church as it allows you to search for a surname without a forename.

Cheshire Parish Register Project  This website is useful if the parish you are interested in is included. Unfortunately the coverage is small

UKBMD This website is an index to many other websites both free to use, subscription, and pay to view. Once on the home page select the 'OPC'  for 'On line Parish Clerk' option on the left hand side. These local websites sites are all different format and provide some information from parish registers. Over time their coverage will improve

FreeREG This website will have great potential for the future and is in need of volunteers to help transcribe information.

 

Census Information

In developing the Family Trees in this website I have used a subscription website. Unless somebody can tell me otherwise I only know of two Free Census Website

FreeCen A good website if the county you are interested in is covered. Improving all the time.

Family Search. This website has free to use coverage of the 1881 census.

 

Message Boards

Rootschat.com Coverage is the whole of the UK. If I am looking for help this is this is currently the first message board I choose

St Helens Connect A useful website if your family history involves St Helens and the surrounding area.
